While practical security systems are definitely required, we should not overreact to this singular incident in ways that keep us and our families from living normal lives. If we do, people with evil intent have already won.
It’s fascinating how the corporate elite truly believe they are the victims here. This guy made a literal list of solutions and not one of them was—hey maybe we stop killing Americans for share holder value.
He mentions the stat that 41% of Gen-zers are at best ambivalent to Brian Thompson’s death. The last sentence quoted above then essentially calls an entire generation evil.
I personally don’t care how anyone feels about the murder one way or another. Our world view, lived experiences, and privilege (or lack there of) will decide our opinion.
All I know is, when the Luigi story is over, health care companies will continue to send thousands of Americans to their grave each year. Healthcare executives will continue to make obscene amounts of money via bonuses from denying people care.
Regular people will continue to die needlessly. CEOs will be fine. They always are.
