It’s funny. One of my favorite pieces this year is called It’s All Bullshit by JS Tan, and it really is. The more we hear about “staying positive,” the more lever-pulling there tends to be.
And boy, how easier it would be for us—for everyone—to just shut up and eat our cake. But I can’t help but think the web needs more than techno-optimism right now.
It needs community. It needs commons. It’s need spaces we can just exist, away from the forces that got us into this mess in the first place.
Why is that so hard? And why, for the love of god, is that notion seemingly so contentious?
